Check out this video, via Peter Daou, of one of the protesters outside the Obama town-hall meeting in New Hampshire:
Protester: [Unintelligible] illegals ... we send on the first bus one way back to wherever they came from. We don't need illegals.
Send 'em home on a bus, send 'em home with a bullet in the head the second time.

As Daou notes: Jefferson said "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."
Indeed, Tim McVeigh was arrested wearing a T-shirt with that very quotation.

A fellow teabagger then proclaims that Obama is becoming "a dictator," and warns that opposing him will lead to people being imprisoned.

Firstly, unless you are African-American (whose forefathers were brought here against their will) or Native American, STFU!!!!!!! Pres. Obama has stated that he will introduce immigration reform next year. I think he should wait until 2011, nearer the election. Republicans will work themselves into a frenzy, frothing at the mouth to appease their "base" by denouncing immigration and further alienating hispanics. They just can't help themselves!

not being disrespetful , what about the Kennewick Man ? , the larger issue is not where you are from . From my POV this is the problem as long as people belive that their street / town / state / country / color / religion / gender is better than everyone else we have little chance of becoming human .

Actually, Peabody: I'm a second generation on my father's side. Mother's side - a little longer. I have absolutely NO problem with immigrants coming here. If I'm not mistaken (and I could be), I think mid-1880 or so began the push for 'papers' or keeping track of those immigrating here.

New Hampshire is the South Carolina of New England. They vote or nearly vote Republican in every presidential election cycle. They're the crazy aunt in New England's attic.
That was my first thought, watching these bitter tea-baggers in action. If they are this riled up over health care reform, which will benefit 99% of them, how the hell will they respond to immigration reform to which they will see no remote chance of benefit.

i would offer that most racist have never lived the life they profess to hate . That makes me so happy to of had blacks , asians , mexicans , whites as my friends and nannys , it was never about color not in our hood ( Oakland Ca circa 1950' ) pop used to take me down to the yard on the weekends ( he did maintance on the trucks for the 3rd largest cement contract company in the SF / bay area ) as always big Ryan helped him , he was about 6'4" plus , 300 lbs and jet black when ever i saw him i would run up to him and he would grab me throw me on his shoulders and we would walk around the yard laughing and singing , we would drive the cement and dump trucks over the pit so pop could do the oil changes and what not , some times there would be dagos ( a term of endearment trust me ) there and they would bring lunch it was like a big party , sometimes my mom would come down to the yard , it was she that first taught me to weld i was about 9 yrs old then .

From the disruptions at town hall meetings to all the lying and fabricating... it's just getting downright creepy. And how can the administration do anything about it without being acused of stepping on 1st amendment rights? Some of the letters to the editor in our paper are ridiculous! The anti-Obama, anti health care reform people can't even state any facts. They are just all freaked out, scared and hateful.
During the Bush years hundreds of thousands of marchers and protestors showed up wherever bush spoke (mumbled, blithered, etc.). Those protesters were hurded off into 1st amendment zones and not even given any notice by the media. The equal solution would be to do the same to these clowns. However, Obama and the Democrats don't run and hide like bush. They meet the oppostion head on.
We cannot cower from this uncouth, hysteric, lunatic crowd. We need to see them and fight them head on. I would hope most Americans will see in them just how flaky, dirty and small they are.

It came to me when thinking about the movie Tin Drum. During the Nazi meeting the little boy starts banging a rhythm on his drum that transforms the hate meeting into a polka party. Instead of getting all bent out of shape by these guys, show up with a Mexican band, Mexican food (especially that roasted corn with mayo, butter and cheese) and have a party right across the street. You would have bloated old gray gass bags, stuck in their lawn chairs on one side. On the other side you would have people having a great time. Then invite the gass bags over. These people (who think Taco Bell is Mexican food) would have their minds blown. They would smell the aromas and hear the music and they would want to go. It wouldn't even matter if the went or not (they probably wouldn't), but for the rest of their lives they would remember that they WANTED TO.
